This is a new technology which is introduced in IVF wherein a diode laser is used to cut the zona or to thin the zona which is the outer covering of the egg. It is generally useful in eggs retrieved from elderly patients, PCOS patients, those with previous IVF failures and those embryos which have been frozen for Frozen embryo cycles in whom the outer covering of the eggs or the zona is thick. It has been shown to increase the implantation rates in the patients with a success rates of around 30 %. We are now generally offering laser hatching to all our frozen embryo cycle patients.
