CRYOPRESERVATION

As the name suggests cryo- cold and preservation –conserve /safeguard is a process wherein a living tissue can be preserved under subzero temperatures. Vitrification process is a new innovation in cryopreservation wherein a living tissue like a sperm, oocyte(egg) and the embryo can be frozen to minus temperatures to sustain its viability and to put it to use at a later stage. It is a beneficial tool for the cancer patients who want to preserve their eggs or gametes before any major treatments involving high dose chemotherapy and radiation. It is also beneficial in young women who want to freeze their eggs to preserve their fertility for later on (social freezing). Women with PCOS having extra embryos can be frozen for later use to avoid any chances of hyper stimulation of the ovaries.
